Beaches: Blue Point, Melasti, Pandawa, Padang Padang
Uluwatu Temple
Kecak Dance
GWK Cultural Park
Dinner at Jimbaran
We propose one of the below daytrips:
a) To combine a visit to the beaches with Uluwatu Temple (where you can also watch the Kecak dance during sunset) followed by dinner at Jimbaran
b) To combine a visit to GWK Cultural Park with Uluwatu Temple (where you can also watch the Kecak dance during sunset) followed by dinner at Jimbaran
Beaches
The beaches of Nusa Dua are definitely worth a visit. Blue Point is popular for its jaw-dropping view and cave entrance, Pandawa and Melasti for their white sand and crystal blue waters. In contrast to Blue Point, these two beaches have no waves so you can swim and snorkel here. In Padang Padang, get ready to meet some cheeky monkeys as you climb down the steps and are greeted by this breathtaking one hundred metre long stretch of sand, blue waters, rock caves and tidal swimming pools.
Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu Temple is regarded as one of the six most important temples in Bali. According to the Hindu religion, the powers of the Hindu Trinity — Brahma, Vishnu and Siva — merge here and that is why it is considered a place of worship. It offers one of the most spectacular views in Bali, perched on top of a steep cliff 70 metres above sea level. Walking along the walls on the right side of the temple is reminiscent of the Great Wall of China. The temple is also home to the famous Bali monkeys which are friendly enough - as long as you don’t get too close to them.
Kecak Dance
During sunset you can watch the famous Kecak or fire dance at Uluwatu Temple theatre which relates to the story of the epic Ramayana Saga. The story starts with Prince Rama, his wife Shinta and brother Lakshmana wandering into the woods, when the giant Rahwana kidnaps Shinta and holds her hostage in his palace. The prince seeks help from his friend Surgiwa, the King of the Monkey Kingdom. What is distinct about this dance is the number of performers on the stage, which might reach 50-60 at a time, and the chanting of the chorus that accompanies the dance.
GWK Cultural Park
Did you know that the second tallest statue in the world can be found in Bali? The Statue of Lord Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda is measured at a majestic height of 121 metres. To put this into perspective, New York’s Statue of Liberty stands at 93 metres. As well as the tallest statue in the world, GWK Park features different venues such as the Lotus Pond, Plaza Garuda presided over by the immense statue of Garuda, and Plaza Wisnu, amongst others. The Cultural Park also hosts various Balinese performances and restaurants. You can easily spend a day here if you wish to.
Dinner at Jimbaran
A day trip to Nusa Dua is not considered complete if it does not end with a fish dinner at Jimbaran. If you love fresh fish this is definitely the place to visit. Located next to Bali's biggest fish market, namely Kedonganan, the fish restaurants at Jimbaran offer fresh fish that you can select from the fish tanks, accompanied most often by live music or a Balinese dance performance. The tables are literally placed on the sand so you are only metres away from the ocean.

Watersports at Benoa Nusa Dua
Watersports can be combined with a visit to Uluwatu Temple (where you can also watch the Kecak dance during sunset) followed by dinner at Jimbaran
Nua Dua Watersports
Tanjung Benoa in Nusa Dua offers a wealth of water activities from the more mainstream banana boat, roulette doughnut and snorkeling, to the more adventurous fly boarding, parasailing, jet skiing, wake boarding and water skiing. A relatively new toy is fly boarding where you can fly up to 10 metres from the sea while throwing some tricks to impress your friends. The best part? It is quite easy to do as it comes as naturally as walking. Another interesting one is the seawalker where you wear astronaut- like gear and literally walk on the bottom of the sea. In contrast to scuba diving (also available), you do not need any previous practice/knowledge. Tanjung Benoa is definitely the place to go if you are looking to spend your day doing watersports.

b) To combine a visit to Monkey Forest with Kintamani Highland followed by Tegalalang Rice Terrace and Uma Pakel Agro Tourism & Swing
c) To combine a visit to Monkey Forest with Tirta Empul and Elephant Cave followed by Tegenungan Waterfall
Monkey Forest
Part rite of passage, part attraction, a visit to the Ubud Monkey Forest is certainly an experience. Walking through this natural forest sanctuary may have you feeling a little like Indiana Jones as you pass by Banyan trees and temples, but it’s the monkeys that are the main attraction. You’ll see monkeys everywhere in the forest. Swinging through the trees, lazing around, and occasionally walking up to you. Visitors to Ubud Monkey Forest are asked not to feed the monkeys, but those that do come away with some pretty fun photos!
Tegalalang & Uma Pakel
Although not technically within Ubud itself, visiting the nearby Tegalalang Rice Terrace is perhaps the first thing you should do. It is one of the most Instagrammed locations in Bali, and with good reason. The carefully laid out terraces offer a stunning patchwork that cries out to be admired. Next to it, you will find Uma Pakel Agro Tourism & Swing where you can taste the most expensive coffee in the world, namely Luwak coffee, made from civet's feces. Here you will learn how Luwak coffee is made before you take a brave leap and hop on a giant swing over Tegalalang Rice Terrace.
Tegenungan Waterfall
A great attraction for nature lovers very close to Ubud. Go down the pebbly road and plunge into the cold waters of the waterfall. Take a deep breath and enjoy the nature. If you are brave enough, you can combine your visit to Tegenungan Waterfall with a walk across the 200m Glass Bridge that stands at 40m above the Tukad Petanu stream. Overlooking the waterfall lies a restaurant and bar with multiple pools and live acoustic music. And for those who are on a shopping expedition, you will find a local market with the classic Bali sarongs and dresses just as you step down the waterfall.
Tirta Empul
Bathe in the sacred waters at Tirta Empul. There are many Balinese myths and legends associated with the Tirta Empul temple, such as the sacred spring that feeds it being created by the God Indra. A swim in the waters here is thought to bring about good fortune when an offering is first made at the temple. Tirta Empul is dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu God of water. It also includes shrines to Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Indra and Mount Batur. Balinese people also perform Melukat, a bathing ritual to clean one’s body and soul, every year in this particular spot.
Elephant Cave
It might be known as the Elephant Cave, but you won’t find any elephants here! The entrance to the cave is guarded by a fearsome-looking giant carved into the rock, and the Hindu influence in the cave is thought to date back nearly a thousand years. Where does Elephant Cave get its name from? There are many theories, with one attributing it to the statue of the god Ganesh inside. It is believed that Goa Gajah was used as a hermitage or sanctuary by Hindu priests who dug the cave entirely by hand. The complex features relics, carvings, a meditation cave, pools and fountains.
Kintamani Highland
One of the most spectacular views in Bali including green rolling hills, mountain peaks and the grand Lake Batur - a 13 square kilometre wide lake in the caldera of Mount Batur, a volcano that has been dormant for quite a long time. Kintamani is one of the most fertile areas in Bali and has a wealth of hiking trails. Combine it with a visit to Toya Devasya hot springs. The volcanic hot water here is known for its curative properties due to its mineral contents, while the view of Lake Batur is simply

Taman Ayun
Luwak Coffee Plantation
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple at Bedugul
Handara Iconic Gate
Wanagiri Hidden Hill
The above points of interest can be combined in one single day trip that will last approximately 9 hours.
Taman Ayun
Taman Ayun Temple literally means a temple in a beautiful garden. As well as the temple itself, the park with its ponds and colourful vegetation will amaze you. The temple was built in the 17th century as a family temple for the Mengwi Empire and was only accessible to the royals. We will combine Taman Ayun temple with a visit to a luwak coffee plantation to try the most expensive coffee in the world. You will also get to taste samples of different coffees and teas and if you like them enough you can always buy one or some of them at the shop.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple
Located on the shores of Lake Bratan, this is a temple of high significance to the rice field farmers in Bali. Its design gives the illusion that it is part balanced on the mainland, and part hovering over the waters. It is an important connection between water and land, water and crops. The temple is dedicated to the river goddess Dewi Danu. There are many Balinese ceremonies held here to ensure that there is plenty of water for farmers all over Bali. Bedugul is also one of the few places in Bali where it gets chilly and you need a jacket.
Handara Iconic Gate
Handara Iconic Gate or the path to Serenity should be on your bucket list when it comes to the most Instagrammable places in Bali. The Bali gate features two towering stone pillars covered in moss that act as the entrance to the Handara Golf Resort Bali. This traditional Hindu gate symbolises the entrance from the outer world to the temple. You will be amazed by its black Balinese architecture, which in combination with the misty sky of Bedugul, the rain forest, the green mountains and the crater lakes, makes up a magical scenery.
Wanagiri Hidden Hill
Just a short drive up from Handara Iconic Gate, Wanagiri hill faces directly to Buyan and Tamblingan lakes. It offers plenty of spots for selfies including a human-sized bird’s nest, human sized wooden teacups, the bow of a boat, wooden stars, tree houses, an Indonesian interpretation of the Eiffel Tower and much more. It also has a huge swing right on top of the lakes. Not so hidden anymore, the place is getting increasingly popular so chances are that it will be crowded.

Kemenuh Butterfly Park at Tabanan
Luwak Coffee Plantation
Tanah Lot Temple
Kecak performance during dinner at Tanah Lot Temple
The above points of interest can be combined in one single day trip that will last approximately 14 hours.
Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
Once an UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site candidate, Jatiluwih Rice Terrace offers breath taking views of Batukaru mountain. This is one of Bali’s best panoramas, with endless rice fields spreading over 600 hectares of land. When talking about Jatiluwih one cannot help but mention the Subak Irrigation System - a traditional method preserved for centuries and passed down through generations – that is used to irrigate the Rice Terrace. This system is very much related to the collaboration among farmers who pass on the water from their own rice field to the neighbouring one.
Penatahan Hot Springs
It is very likely that you will get lucky and enjoy this peaceful place on your own. Sit back and enjoy the soothing effects of the ‘Air Panas’ or hot springs. You can juggle between the fresh water pool, the hot natural pool one level down and the dreadfully hot smaller pools at the very end. Alternatively, you can also choose to enjoy the private hot spring rooms on your very own. Apart from the hot springs, the view in this place will relax even the most stressed soul. This is a hidden gem and that is why it is definitely worth a visit.
Kemenuh Butterfly Park
Learn about the metamorphosis of the butterfly and its short life span that only lasts from 15 to 29 days. You can witness here the different stages of the butterfly journey from caterpillar to chrysalis (cocoon stage) to adult butterfly. Be brave enough to take selfies with huge butterflies or the famous leaf insect (an insect that can easily be mistaken for a leaf). There are also some deadly scorpions well kept in cages. Apart from the insect kingdom, the gardens that host the insects are surprisingly beautiful.
Tanah Lot & Kecak Dance
You cannot come to Bali and not visit the famous Tanah Lot temple in Tabanan in the north of Canggu. This sea temple is guarded by a black and silver striped snake and sits on a rocky outcrop just off the shore, accessible only at low tide. The Tanah Lot temple complex is one of our favourite sunset spots in Bali, although certainly not one for tranquility as a lot of other visitors in Bali have the same idea! The famous Kecak or fire dance also takes place here every sunset and you can watch this while enjoying your dinner.
